Virginia Trunkes is a partner in the firm's Appeals Department where she focuses on appellate practice and complex litigation. She brings a wealth of commercial, real estate and construction litigation experience in advocating on behalf of real property owners, tenants in common, landlords, tenants, developers, condominium and cooperative boards and individual unit owners. In her practice, Ms. Trunkes asserts her clients’ property and leasehold rights at the appellate courts and in critical motion papers in the trial courts. Common disputes involve ownership, acquisition and development, the right to possession, the right to access, licenses, construction and design, contractual breaches, fiduciary obligations, boundaries, interpretation of administrative and regulatory compliance.

Ms. Trunkes is frequently published and is active in a multitude of industry and bar associations, including leadership roles as Chair on the Committee on Construction Law at the New York City Bar Association, Board Member and Secretary of JALBCA, the Judges and Lawyers Breast Cancer Alert, and Co-Chair of the JALBCA Committee of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York.

Prior to joining Borah Goldstein, Ms. Trunkes practiced at two Manhattan commercial litigation boutique firms, before which she served as a court attorney at the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, First Department, and she began her legal career as an attorney representing a New York City administrative agency in intra-agency disputes. Ms. Trunkes received her J.D. from Brooklyn School of Law, where she was a Richardson Merit Scholar, and a B.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo, where she graduated magna cum laude.

Ms. Trunkes was selected to New York Metro 2016 Super Lawyers.

Ms. Trunkes chaired the seminar "Neighboring Property Construction Matters" at the City Bar Center for CLE Programs on April 26, 2017.

Ms. Trunkes presented on a Construction Law panel on the topic "Who pays for late or delayed construction: contractor, subcontractor, construction manager or, building owner?" at Buildings New York. The session was sponsored by NYARM, March 22, 2017.
