Biography

Mr. Cohen is of counsel to the firm.  He has over thirty years experience as an attorney in both the public and private sectors handling a broad variety cases involving housing issues.  Mr. Cohen litigates holdover and non-payment cases, working closely with the firm’s managing partner, Robert D. Goldstein.  He also maintains a caseload of administrative cases before DHCR and the ECB.  Prior to joining the firm in 1999, Mr. Cohen served for nine years as the Director of DHCR’s Enforcement Unit which handles harassment and compliance cases in rent stabilized and rent controlled buildings.  Mr. Cohen also served for many years as the Deputy Director and held other supervisory positions with the Housing Litigation Bureau of the NYC Dept. of Housing Preservation and Development where he supervised a large staff of attorneys and developed litigation strategies.
