Michael S. Olsen, Jr. joined the Firm in 2018 as an associate with the Firm’s Supreme Court Division. He focuses his practice primarily on litigation involving rent regulation disputes including overcharges, primary residence, and coverage claims under the Loft Law in Supreme and Civil Court and before the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings, (“OATH”).
Michael advises building owners on Loft Law coverage claims and determinations, illegal subletting and rent profiteering, buyout negotiations, and Interim Multiple Dwelling (“IMD”) legalization timetable deadlines and extension applications. As an Associate, Michael has experience at every stage of the litigation process including drafting pleadings, motions, production and review of discovery materials, arguing motions, attending compliance conferences, and assisting with depositions and second chairing trials in Supreme Court, Civil Court, and OATH.
While in law school, Michael was employed by the firm as law clerk and previously he worked for two boutique law firms at which he gained experience in non-payment and holdover proceedings and construction work disputes.
Michael received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and his Bachelor’s from SUNY Old Westbury, Cum Laude, in Business Administration, with a concentration in management.
