Biography

Anthony has represented property owners, landlords, management companies, developers, commercial tenants, contractors, design professionals, and various other types of businesses in the greater New York City area for twenty-two years.

Anthony’s litigation and trial experience is extensive in scope, encompassing countless commercial and residential real estate actions and proceedings in federal, state, and local trial and appellate courts in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Anthony’s published cases include: House 93, LLC v. Lipton, 178 A.D.3d 545 (1st Dep't 2019); Crotona Park Redevelopment, LLC v. Chantay Williams, 121 N.Y.S.3d 847 (Civ. Ct. Bx. Co. 2020); Kefalas v Valiotis, 2018 NY Slip. Op. 34154(U) (Sup. Ct. Nassau Co. 2015); and Trumbull Equities LLC v City.Com Media LLC, 2015 NY Slip. Op. 30559(U) (Sup. Ct. Queens Co. 2015).

Anthony’s practice also includes commercial leasing, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Anthony has drafted and negotiated over 1,500 commercial leases, encompassing retail, office, shopping center, parking garage, and ground-up construction leases, representing both landlords and tenants, from national and regional companies (Whole Foods, Shop Rite, JPMorgan Chase, Amazon, Tesla, and Atlier Jolie) to individuals and small businesses.

Anthony also serves as general counsel to individuals and small businesses, guiding them through variegated legal issues and transactions including: (i) purchases and sales, commercial leasing, subleasing, and licensing; (ii) corporate and other commercial transactions, including, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, asset purchases, and shareholder, member, indemnity, construction, broker, non-compete, and confidentiality agreements; (iii) construction/design defects; (iv) interfacing with elected and other public officials regarding local acquisitions and development projects; (v) advocating for clients at public hearings; (vi) handling media inquiries; and (vii) any litigation having its genesis in items (i) through (vi), through and including trial and appeal.

Prior to joining the firm, Anthony was general counsel for a prominent New York City property management and development firm. There, Anthony built a legal department that managed the diverse legal affairs of a portfolio of approximately 200 commercial and residential properties, encompassing five million square feet of commercial space and 17,000 residential units, in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. As a result, Anthony has a keen appreciation for and insight into myriad issues landlords encounter in the ordinary courses of their businesses.
